Cheapshot: your agent reads the screen, and secrets never reach the API

Cheapshot reads screenshots, screen recordings and PDFs on your Mac, redacts secrets before the text leaves it, and keeps a ledger of the image tokens your agent never had to pay for.

Words, not pixels

A screenshot costs roughly (width x height) / 750 tokens, and rides along on every later turn. A 4 megapixel capture, one Retina laptop screen, is about 4,800 tokens. The words are usually all the agent needed. On a real screenshot:

1,018 image tokens became 37 text tokens, 96% saved.

Secrets never leave the Mac

Upload a screenshot and every key in it is now in a provider’s logs, forever. Cheapshot replaces API keys, tokens, passwords and private hostnames with [AWS_KEY] style labels on your Mac, before any text leaves it.

Screenshots, PDFs and recordings

PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF and PDF, plus any video ffmpeg can open. A recording is read only where the screen changed: a 51 minute 4K talk became a 17 screen transcript in 35 seconds on an M4 Pro Mac mini, 31,348 image tokens to 1,133, 96% saved.
